Dirty Little Freaks
All the Underdogs…
I was at dinner the other night and ordered the Ahi Tuna and a glass of Pinot Noir. Speaking in a kind-of judgmental tone the server asks; do you really want to drink a red with Tuna? Wait, hold up, I think a server just judged me, but I kept it together and just said yes, I’ll be having the Pinot Noir. But it gets better, the tuna arrives, it is grilled perfect and served with grilled vegetables with a balsamic reduction. Here comes the server with what I can tell is a sample of something white… here we go, he’s not giving up. I decline the sample of wine, in his eyes I know he was trying to help… I get that, BUT… let me be.
In wine, why do people think it’s ok to judge? We are told we can’t drink this, we shouldn’t eat that. Whatever, I drink what I want. Never let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t drink. That’s the thing about wine; it’s for everybody, not just the stuffy wine snobs of the world. Wine should make you feel happy, bring back fond memories and joyful times. Just think about the wedding toast or New Years Eve, can you imagine it without something sparkling? So continue drinking what you will, put ice in your red if that’s what you like, make your own blend from bottles you have open. They have wine rules for one reason… to be broken. So raise your glass if you’re all wrong, in all the right way …
So Readers, how do you break the rules ??

By doing exactly as you do and drinking whatever the heck I want….when I want.My friend puts ice cubes in her red wines and only time I wont let her is if its a really great red, otherwise whatever goes flows. How about some info on summer whites or great cook out /bbq reds ? Thanks man !
Thanks for posting man; I can’t even tell you how much I am “OVER” some people in the world of wine. It’s the Red snobs that really tick me off; it’s like “who made you Bacchus the God of Wine”. So what if you only drink white, so what if you only drink sweet… again I have to say SO WHAT. I have one philosophy and that is “Drink what you like and always Drink Outside The Box.
Moving on to summertime wines; my favorite would have to be Rosé. Don’t let the color fool you, this is not a Blush or White Zinfandel, no sir it’s a dry wine that pretty much goes well with anything. Some of my favorite pairings are, sushi or any seafood, anything spicy and great summer salads. Another cool factor is most Rosé wines are very adorable, I have found some great ones for well under $10.00.
Sometimes i drink wine before its time.
